Our Story
A collection of moments that define our shared history. Spanning over 12 years(!), from the first summer we met to the quiet milestones that grew into a life together, this is the visual story of us.
2014 — The summer we met...
​
Mamie and Duncan meet during the summer of 2014 on a western tour (TCTW), where they spent the summer in vans with a group of other high school aged kids that were driven from NC to CA and back. They start the summer as strangers, and end the summer with a strong friendship bond that will end up lasting a lifetime.
2015 — High school grads, long distance pals

Mamie was finishing up high school in Florida, while Duncan was graduating in North Carolina. The two friends stayed in touch near constantly, thanks to social media and letters.
2016 — College Freshman Year
​
Mamie moved to North Carolina to follow her dad's Wolfpack footsteps. Duncan starts his freshman year at UNC. Now, Duncan and Mamie are living and studying in the same state! Their friendship thrives as their adventures continue. Starting with... skydiving!
2017 — College years
​
Although Duncan and Mamie were living their own lives at their respective colleges, they kept their friendship alive through occasionally seeing each other at their respective colleges and going on trips and adventures. This year, to Utah!
2019 — First jobs out of college
​
A few years have passed, Duncan moves to Austin TX for a design and marketing job at Dell. Mamie graduates and is torn between two analytics job offers: one in Spokane, WA and the other in Austin TX. She gets the Austin gig, and Duncan and Mamie end up living in the same state again!
2020 — We start dating!
​
Stir crazy from Covid, and dying for more adventures, Duncan and Mamie and a handful of very close friends decide to plan a trip to Montana! The group get to experience beautiful site after beautiful site, filled with icey blue lakes, roaring campfires, and vistas of pink flowered mountains.
After years of friendship, Mamie and Duncan both confess that they have feelings for each other. They start to date!
2021 — Meeting each other's families

After years of friendship and one year into the relationship, Mamie meets the Hales and Bartholomews, and Duncan meets the Triggs, Sachs, and Brittinghams. All goes well!
Also, the couple visit Colorado together for the first time. It plants a seed in their minds: maybe a move to Colorado is in the cards?
2022 - 2023 — Living in Colorado
​
Bouncing often between Texas and Colorado for visiting friends, going to music festivals, and snowboarding, we became refamiliar with the long highways of the great American west.
Also a New York marathon was run, a 14er was hiked, Florida boat rides were shared, an Alaska trip was checked off, and several national parks were enjoyed.
2024 — First visit to Europe together

Duncan and Mamie helped plan a grand summer European vacation with Duncan's parents and brother. The trip was unreal, and made us want to spend more time in Europe together.
2025 — We get engaged!
​
Duncan and Mamie loved their adventures out in the American West, but the East Coast was beckoning. They decide to pack it up and move in together... in New York City!
​
After an 11 year friendship, and a 5 year relationship, and 2 months of NYC living, Duncan surprises Mamie in Central Park with the big question. He proposes, she says yes, and the celebrations and planning begins!
2026 — Wedding Planing in NYC

Despite the plentiful blizzarding snows this year, the couple has loved living in New York.​ They've been spending the past few months finding the perfect wedding planner who is helping them make their Italian wedding dreams come true!
